We ventured off the beaten track and into the wilds of the Sierra Neveda this month, sampling the Transnevada trail, a 500km gravel loop that circumnavigates the mountain range far higher than any tarmacked route. Speaking of circumnavigation, we also looked into what’s it like to cycle around the world, speaking to those who have completed the epic journey.
It wasn’t all adventure though: our sport’s competitive side was well covered too. The Classic Climb focused on a Giro d’Italia favourite, the Passo Sella, we interviewed Marlen Reusser about the trials and tribulations of the race against the clock, and Cyclist attended the Herne Hill race meet that marked the 75th anniversary of the venue’s use at the 1948 Olympic Games.
This month’s bike reviews were on the new, extra-practical Canyon Endurace, the carbon reincarnation of Cervelo’s iconic Soloist and Giant’s extreme Revolt X. Ahead of a in-depth review next month, we took a first look at Specialized’s latest Tarmac SL8 race bike too.
